Responsibilities:
Over-arching key responsibility to embed finance systems best practice and ensure suite of systems is efficient and effective. This role will manage and participate in systems development projects pertinent to the BDUK Finance team and ensure swift resolution of issues with current functionality through working collaboratively with the following;
Colleagues across finance and the US Financial Systems and Analysis (FS&A) team.
Future Finance Strategy Team
BGS-G SAP Implementation Business Team
Other BGS Global teams
The role will have responsibility for ensuring that the full capabilities of our financial systems are leveraged to the maximum benefit, developing systems needs analysis regarding the future systems strategy. This will be achieved through understanding current systems use, identifying best practice and defining the business gaps that need to be bridged. This position will encompass responsibility as the BDUK Finance SAP focal linking in with wider BDUK support team and be charged with the following;
SAP S4 HANA Close to Report (C2R) Value Stream Lead and Business sustainment lead for C2R & Order to Cash (OtC)
Finance Change requests and opportunities for improvements oversight and requesting
Be the interface for finance for all financial systems within BDUK
Support broader functional initiatives as appropriate
This opportunity will also have involvement with broader BDUK information and data strategy and management, including development of the BDUK Portal / SharePoint support.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Typically, 3–8 years’ experience in programme/project accounting, cost control or commercial finance — experience on large, multi-year programmes is preferred.
Experience in the relevant industry (e.g., aerospace, defence, construction, engineering, IT programmes) is advantageous.
Proficiency with financial systems including ERP systems (SAP S4 HANA) EVM Systems (e.g. Deltek Cobra), Microsoft products (Teams, SharePoint, Azure DevOps).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Professional accounting qualification preferred (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modelling); familiarity with Power BI/Tableau is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
A self-starter, comfortable with challenging established processes and driving improvements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to explain complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
